About RE/MAX by the Lake

Lars Petzke and his wife Liz, Broker/Owners of RE/MAX by the Lake, moved back to his hometown of St. Joe in 2005. As a recent graduate of an MA program in American Studies from The University of Alabama, Lars looking for a position as a high school history or geography teacher. He began filling in at a real estate office in between substitute teaching and fell in love with the field and soon earned his real estate license and then broker's license. Meanwhile, Liz began working in the finanacial services industry and mortages after earning her BA in Finance from Western Michigan University. She quickly held every position in the mortgage departments at a local bank and two local credit unions. Lars took an opportunity to open his own brokerage, RE/MAX by the Lake in 2013. Liz soon left her position as a National Mortgage Sales Manager for a local credit union to join Lars in managing and growing the office. Since 2013, they have moved the office from Edgewater Plaza to the commercial corridor along Niles Ave in St. Joseph at 805 Van Brunt Ave. Also, they have expanded the brokerage by opening a second location  at 4333 Red Arrow Highway Stevensville in 2020.  Lars and Liz have 4 kids, live in St. Joe and enjoy not only real estate but pouring in to and developing the agents of RE/MAX by the Lake.
